Japanese manga artist Rumiko Takahashi won top prize in Angouleme Festival in France

Wow! Rumiko Takahashi won a top prize from the equivalent of Oscar in France for manga & comics!

The prestigious Angouleme International Comics Festival .

France24 , JapanTimes and various media report that, too.  Ms Takahashi looks beautiful.

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture/2019/01/24/entertainment-news/cartoonist-rumiko-takahashi-wins-top-prize-french-comics-festival/

In Japan, it is an unwritten code of conduct to conform, not to standout, not to be different from others...  Her stories often put the outsiders & "eccentrics" characters (and experiences) in forefront.
Inspirational!

I had watched the TV animation versions of some of her works,
“Ranma 1/2”,   Urusei Yatsura” (or “Lum” ),  “Mansion Ikkoku,   Inuyasha.

Forigners, aliens(literally), mixed race...

Of course, the stories have been well-seasoned with
humour, jokes, love, adventures, naughty things, etc,
to deliver deeper meaningful things to young people and the young at heart.

Previously, I was writing about one of her influential work Inuyasha.
The link between the various metaphoric and  esoteric concepts of light ...i
n the story and in the characters.
The names of the two leading ladies are star lights.
The precioys gem emit lights.
 Virtues clear away darkness.
Light of the best of human nature.
Halo. Saintly light.
https://sn-uk.blogspot.com/2018/05/inuyasha-and-light.html

Light!
And I have just found out
the different meanings lost in translations over the past two millenniums...
hidden in the ancient Hebrew language and Aramaic language,
the original languages the sacred books were written.

https://www.chaimbentorah.com/015/06/word-study-light-noohra-aramaic-or-hebrew-אור-נהר

Translations via Greek, Latin, German, English, Chinese, Japanese...
are not as good as investicating the messages in original language(s).

With that information in that site,
the story of Daniel and
how he got the supernatural power and answers are clearer.
He asked God to give answers through dreams.
Now we can understand ancient wisdom esoteric teaching inside the books in Bible much better.

Seek light.

BTW,
Daniel eats plant-based diet,  fast & pray alot.

Unreserved Love / He gives it all

(lyrics & links) Good songs often have different versions.
This was a theme song from a very moving Christian love movie
based on a story in Hong Kong of
a female doctor who sacrifice herself during the SARS plague.

Originally it was in Cantonese. Then there are two versions of English lyrics
.

Here below I include all three versions.

An Unreserved Love -- English versions 2:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_c6AuZaAII

I've always been told love won’t endure  Nowhere can one find love long and true  The world just thinks love comes and passes through  “Don’t make promise” is the rule...   [But I still believe love can last long    Your unfailing love has made me strong    You are the one I can depend upon    Come what may, you’ll love me all along!    Who died on the cross and took away my curse?    Great is your love, I don’t think I should deserve    Your bleeding hands proved your love unreserved    You’re my only joy and treasure on the earth...    Giving everything to you is all I pray    Use my life to serve you truly every day    I’ll hold your hands and give you all my praise    Let the whole world know your love and grace! ] x 2  Who died on the cross and took away my curse?  Great is your love, I don’t think I should deserve  Your bleeding hands proved your love unreserved  You’re my only joy and treasure on the earth...  Giving everything to you is all I pray  Use my life to serve you truly every day  [I’ll hold your hands and give you all my praise   Let the whole world know your love and grace!] X 2

B) An Unreserved Love

-- English version 1 , together with Traditional Chinese

(sung in Cantonese the language of Hong Kong people)
 常聽說世界愛沒長久
I’ve heard that love comes and goes
 那裡會有愛無盡頭
No such thing as endless love
塵俗的愛只在乎曾擁有
They say hold on just for a while
一刻燦爛便要走
Soon it too will fade away
而我卻確信愛是恆久
But I believe love is here to stay
碰到了祢已無別求
To have You is to have it all
無從解釋不可說明的愛
Even though I don’t fully understand
千秋過後仍長存不朽
Thousand years is just a start
誰人受痛苦被懸掛在木頭
Who suffered and died on the cross?
至高的愛盡見於刺穿的手
I see the highest love in His pierced hands
 看 血在流反映愛沒保留
He shed His blood and He gave it all
持續不死的愛到萬世不休
This is true love that lasts thru eternity
惟求奉上生命全歸主所有
I pledge my life and my all to You
要將一切盡獻於我主的手
Everything is Yours just take it Lord!
我已決定今生再沒所求
I’ve decided I have no want
惟望得主稱讚已足夠
To be loved by You is enough.

愛是不保留
(曲&詞:盧永亨 composer & lyrics: Mr. W.H.Lo)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzbrlzut8-Y This version is first singers Ms C.M. Lam. The MV is a mix of original movie clips with new MV elements.

pronunciation note: clarify: J as in joy. ng starting sound is just nasal. ending T/D/K not sounded but indicate the stop of air outflow, ch / ts / j / dz sounds similar, slightly different.
Why I include the Cantonese pronunciation guide here?
A-- for Cantonese learners
B-- communist PRC has been culturally cleansing & population cleansing Hong Kong.
The harsh environment in HK have made birth rate of real local HK people the least in the world for almost two decades. Please pray that the culture and the language can be inherited and passed on forever.

comparision & learning

Through comparison, we can learn better.  #

Recently I had tried to compare various English translations of Luke 24:42-44.
Is Honeycomb in your bible? It is missing in many versions.
Try online interactive resources like:
BibleGateway,  BibleHub,  BibleStudyTools

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=luke+24%3A42-43&version=WYC

http://biblehub.com/luke/24-42.htm

http://www.biblestudytools.com/luke/24-42-compare.html

Then, what about the books?
GEEES.

Then, someone has a visitor named Tobias.
Hey, that is a name of one of the books in Catholic Bible.
Searching & comparing....
numbers of books are different in the versions of bible by
Catholic, Protestant, Eastern Orthodox church!!!!!!!

English & Chinese bilingual data
(Traditional Chinese text for HongKong & Taiwan friends)

Old Testaments.
books    version:
________________
24    Jewish Tanakh
39    Protestant
46    Catholic
51    Eastern Orthodox

Originally I just wanted to find out the bilingual names and acronyms...

https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-hk/%E8%81%96%E7%B6%93

Then I noticed the information...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Books_of_the_Bible

Even just talking about the names of the books,
there are different translations/versions between them.

#
 the variations of actual text
in the many English versions alone are amazing if not shocking.

There are so many versons.
If I were to choose one or two versions,
 which is/are the best?
And.....
The Catholic bibles have more books than Protestant bibles.

(Wikipedia do states that Protestant version and Jewish Tanakh
are similar in the quantity of content in the Old Testament,
just the arrangement & dividing of books vary.)

misled ?!?

Which versions of translated documents have you been given?
How close they are to the real original / meaning /truth?
I shall investigate.

Let us check...

Example:  Bible,,,, LUKE:24:41-42

variations 1:

Did Jesus ask for  ~
any meat or any food  to eat?

variation 2:

Was Jesus given ~
just fish, or, fish & honeycomb?

(and Jesus only took one of them
as in many versions of  Luke 24:43)

NOTE:
Old Testament - most were written in Hebrew.
But a few chapters were written in Aramaic:
(in the prophecies of Ezra and Daniel and one verse in Jeremiah)

New Testament - was writen in Greek.
Aramaic was the common language spoken in Israel in Jesus' time,
and it was likely the language He spoke.
Some Aramaic words were even used by the Gospel writers in the New Testament.

 :::::  What else???

===Exodus 33:3
The promised land for people to go is
"unto a land flowing with milk and honey"
( they are enough to be attractive and luring to people ;
not roasted meat or wine !)

===Isaiah 7:15

"By the time he knows enough to refuse evil and choose good,
he will  eat curdled milk and honey."

(go there and see the variations of translation:
1--  curd/ cheese/ sour milk/ curdled milk
2-- sentence structures/ words  / changes of meanings in translations)

===Genesis 1:29
"God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food."

=== Genesis 1:30
“And to every beast of the earth,
and to every bird of the air,
and to everything that creeps on the earth,
everything that has the breath of life,
I have given every green plant for food.” —

My conclusion???????
Some authorities or translations seems to
 have made the fact of
vegetarian diet
hidden/lost / obscured in bible ...

Was it to suit the ruling class's preference of meat?

Nowadays only few Christians practice
fasting and cutting out meat/food.

I read materials saying that
Jesus was likely to be one of the
Nazarene Essenes,
who lived simple rural life, wore white robes,
ate vegetarian diet, fasted, and meditated.......

He and John the Baptist survived well in rural wilderness/caves
with vegetarian food in nature,
like milk/curd/cheese, honey, fish weed, locust fruit...and
He seems well-experienced in fasting for long period of time!

    source:
http://www.essene.com/Bible/BiblicalBasisOfVeganism.html

http://www.thenazareneway.com/biblical_%20vegetarianism_denis_giron.htm

Faith and religion/churches seems two things now.

Got to be careful what to believe and what to follow.

p.s.
I have been wondering ...

 the translation works,
done over a vast span of centuries,
by different persons of different abilities in different countries,...
with cultural differences,
misunderstanding
of similar words but different meanings in languages,
plus,
different levels of control / influences from those in power--
-- hidden agenda to use religion /bible
to help rule countries/people in medieval times....
