Interesting, not just food & drink.

Seen two types of retro low tech apple juice press. Seen demo & tasting of two raw desserts.

A group organised an afternoon for swoping, and full of talks, demo, food, drinks and various topics from no-to-fracking, quick-machine-health-check health advices, safety for cycling, campaigning for local cycling lane/route, cycling , healthy life-style, massage & shiatsu , minimizing food waste, vegetarian & vegan diets, foraging, etc. Representaives/volunteers from Asda, Greenpeace,  vegan society, Omigi Living, Bespoke, etc, etc.

The desert demo & tasting was by the boss of Oh My Goodness, the lady is an entrepreneurial mum of two lovely girl.

Had a nice afternoon there. (*^o^*)

a Steampunk Festival 2015

A Steampunk Festival was held in Eastbourne.
This one was coordinated by the local Bonfire Society.
Steampunk style has influenced even Japanese animation director  Hayao Miyazaki
whose animations has steampunk elements in them.

I saw most enthusiasts were wearing periodic costumes,
black, black, black,
 with some red/purple.
And, many metals!
Retro-industrial mix in Victorian/Pirate era...
To me,
the style of the costume seems interesting.
I might have missed many as I arrived late ...
the last half hour.
I was visiting other heritage/museums.
As with many festivals, there was music!!

The event has two main parts.
The free events include stalls, beer tent,
music on stage with various performances, food stalls,
fun fair for kids, fund-raising for charity....

The ticket event is the masquerade ball in Steampunk style.

I only went to the free event part on both days during the last half an hour.
The lawn was full of people on Saturday.
The ball was held on Saturday night.
I guess some people have left by Sunday afternoon.

Laptop/notebook computer problems

Before I share my recent interesting outtings/photos,
I have to deal with some problems with my laptop.
Ok I try to calm down, try find out the cause & find solution.
Update:
Laptop computer HP ProBook---
1-- USB ports stopped working.
(it means, mouse, tablet/stylus, camera, phone,
USB finger drives, etc, can not be used with the laptop)

2-- Funny noise on the right hand side.

After 1.5 years & much effort searching and asking,
I switched off the bluetooth just over 10 days ago.
Good. No more funny noise.
Good. No more extra numerous bluetooth thingie in device manager.
Good. Some USB ports can at least be used to charge mobile phone/cell phone.
... I thought everything was fine.

Tonight, I notice battery issue:
Charger plugged in but battery not charging.
So I searched www.
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/USB-Ports-on-HP-Probook-4520s-don-t-work/td-p/575567

So there are people who have similar problems for some years.
I learnt from there the 3 USB ports are not the same.
"According to the Service Manual, the two ports on the left are incorporated into the motherboard, whereas the two problematic USB ports on the right are connected to the motherboard with a USB connector and a Base Cable Kit."

Actually I searched more and even tried to switched off the
USB save-battery auto-off option in power management.
Power setting & USB port/drives are related.

Still it is not reading USB drive or my phone, etc.

I searched & found this:

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Notebook-PC-Questions/ProBook-4540s-not-charging/td-p/4635176

I followed the steps suggested there like,
uninstalling ACPI compliant control method battery,
unplugging charger, removing battery,
pressing power button, re-plug everything...

And also the three steps to use HP support assistant to
do HP Battery Check.

Answer found:
Battery failure...  needs to be replaced.

  (T.T)

Well, at least now I know,

1-- I can try to replace battery.

2--  it is another reflection of the fact/ law
about the weakest link --
Laptop computers even from very good brandnames,
are as good as ... its weakest link.

Please bear with me.
After problems are solved one by one...
I shall share more...

visited a small fortress/military museum

 The moat became dry.

wide angle view of the roof. (click to enlarge pictures)

Circular Rails enable wide angles....

magazine here means the storage for...

a model of the mini fortress.
Guns were install at the roof. 360 degree defence.

Historical events/sites/museums are good places to remind people

about searching & re-discovering ancestral roots

Each of the small rooms were the sleeping room for several soldiers.
The five lower parts are last defence just in case enemy come into the fortress from the high walls.

Unexpected to see a Japanese sword there.
Probably captured from Japanese soldiers during the WWI or WWII?

I didn't know that there are wavy temperline at the sharp edge of Japanese sword (katana)

After the war, it has been used as music, model land, etc.

Annual heritage day / open day. Free of charge.

There is a cafe inside.
